Ondo Assembly Served Notice Of Impeachment For Ali Olanusi

The lawmakers further alleged that the Deputy Governor committed 9 impeachable offenses.

The Ondo State House of Assembly has ordered that a ‎notice of impeachment be served on the State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Ali Olanusi, over allegations of gross misconduct. 

On Tuesday Speaker of the Assembly Jumoke Akindele claimed that Olanusi committed an offence that contravenes section 188 (2) of the 1991 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. 

The lawmakers further alleged that the Deputy Governor committed 9 impeachable offences.

"Pursuant ‎to the provision of section 188 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, We the undersigned members for the Ondo State House of Assembly pursuant to our enabling powers under section 188 (2) of the 1991 constitution of the present to the Speaker the following allegations of gross misconduct against the Deputy Governor, Alhaji Ali Olanusi.”

The Majority Leader of the Assembly, Ifedayo Olugbenga Akinsoyinu, representing Ondo West Constituency II moved the motion of the impeachment which was seconded by Adeyinka Banso representing Akoko North West constituency I. 

SaharaReporters gathered that out of the 20 lawmakers of the Assembly present, only 19 signed the motion of the impeachment notice. 

Hon. Fatai Olotu representing Akoko North East refused to sign the impeachment notice. 

Alhaji Ali Olanusi had dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for the All Progressives Congress (APC), 48 hours to the Presidential and National Assembly election.
