SaharaReporters can confirm, based on conversations with sources in the military High Command, that Nigerian troops have rescued up to 300 girls and women from Boko Haram camps in the Sambisa Forest.

One military source told SaharaReporters that all effort is being made to give the girls medical treatment and care before the military investigates their identities.  Military sources cannot yet confirm whether any of the victims are the Chibok Girls.

When SaharaReporters spoke with Major General Chris Olukolade he reconfirmed previous statements that "we are processing and providing medical treatment to the girls, and will only begin confirming where they are from after that process is completed."

Dr. Allen Manasseh, who is a community organizer and Chairman of the Pan-Chibok Youth Association, told SaharaReporters that he could not confirm whether the rescued girls are the abducted Chibok girls.

Earlier today Major General Olukolade stated that the Nigerian military destroyed at least three Boko Haram terrorist camps in a coordinated attack in the Sambisa Forest. Included in these three camps is the destruction of the Tokumbere camp, said to be Boko Haram’s most notorious camp.

SaharaReporters will continue to monitor and report these developments.
