He said, “It is unimaginable that the beds chairs and official crested rugs in the Governor’s official quarters were stolen. Even the foam they left is Mouka foam, which they used to replace the original foam.”

The latest disagreement between outgoing Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi and newly elected Governor Nyesom has Amaechi saying that he is “not a looter” as controversy over missing funds from the State.

On Monday, Governor Wike of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), took leaders of the State on a tour of the Government House in Port Harcourt, which he alleges was looted and vandalized by the outgoing Amaechi administration.

Speaking with journalists after the tour, Rivers State PDP Chairman, Felix Obuah, condemned the vandalism.

He said, “It is unimaginable that the beds chairs and official crested rugs in the Governor’s official quarters were stolen. Even the foam they left is Mouka foam, which they used to replace the original foam.”

However, Amaechi is dismissing the claims raised by Governor Wike as a cheap smear campaign designed to intimidate his administration and gain Governor Wike billions of Naira from the State Treasury under the appearance of renovating a vandalized and looted Government House.

He rebuffed Wike’s claim that he looted the Governor’s bedroom by saying, “did Wike know what was in my former bedroom before now, to conclude that the bedroom was looted?”

Amaechi noted, “It’s instructive to note that on Friday, May 29, Wike had barred some key officials of Government House, including civil servants from accessing the place. Forty-eight hours later, he started shouting vandalism and looting. This doesn’t smell right”

He ended by calling for the people of Rivers State to ask Governor Wike what happened within those 48 hours.

This saga is only another episode of the drama between Rotimi Amaechi and PDP officials since he defected from the party to join the APC.

The question about who looted the Governor’s House is unveiling itself to be another expression of APC and PDP party animosities.
