In Rivers State, after much protest and fighting, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Ezenwo Wike, who is a former Minister of State for Education, defeated the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate.
In an election that was marred by violence, the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) officially declared the PDP candidate, Udom Emmanuel as the winner of the governorship elections in Akwa-Ibom State. Udom defeated his closest rival Umana Umana of the APC after he polled the highest number of votes.
The IGP has directed the Deputy Inspector General of Police in Charge of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department to investigate and report.
In a cover letter with a reference dated 19th May, 2015 forwarded CSNAC’s petition to the DIG, under the IGP’s instruction, with a demand for investigation and report back to the IGP.
The Chairman of CSNAC, Olanrewaju Suraju commends the responsiveness, promptitude, proactive and professional approach of the new IGP to his duty and leadership of the Police.
