FIFA WOMEN’S WORLD CUP Okon: Falcons Must Reach Next Round

Okon in a post-match news chat said: "I thought it was a very good match. I congratulate the winners, Australia. We have to get back out and score goals. We must qualify. Nigeria must qualify to the next round. So we must get back to the form we had against Sweden. My players must put the past behind and focus on qualifying for the Round of 16."

NIGERIA’S Super Falcons coach, Edwin Okon has expressed optimism that his team will make it to the round of 16 of the ongoing FIFA Women's World Cup in Canada.

Meanwhile, Australia Coach, Allen Stajcic said both sides had plenty attacks in the game, claiming his side had good control of the match.

"It was a tough game; a tough battle out there in the heat. Both sides had plenty of good attacks and today we were the more clinical side. That’s what we weren’t the other day. A couple key moments won us the match. We had quite good control of the game", he concluded.

The Falcons, who lost 2-0 to the Matildas courtesy of a Kyah Simon’s brace, must beat the USA on Tuesday at the BC Place Stadium, Vancouver to stand a chance of progressing to the next round.
