Update On Monguno Blast In Borno State

''We have received 15 corpses and 43 others were critically injured. But we expect deaths toll to rise before end of today,''‎ a hospital source confirmed.

Not fewer than 15 killed and 43 were injured yesterday evening in Monguno, Borno State when an explosive device detonated in the heart of Monguno town‎, a hospital source told SaharaReporters.

Victims and bodies from the attack arrived by truck at State Specialists Hospital in the early hours of Thursday morning, according to this same source.

''We have received 15 corpses and 43 others were critically injured. But we expect deaths toll to rise before end of today,''‎ a hospital source confirmed.

A top leader CJTF in Maiduguri told SaharaReporters that they lost some their members, and that others were seriously injured from the blast.

''We lost some our CJTF in Monguno town, numbers of them were equally injured, those were injured are presently receiving treatment at State Specialist Hospital in Maiduguri.'' 

''Right now about 15 bodies are being counted so far,” Civilian JTF sources said.

This area of Borno State has been under constant assault from Boko Haram since the group emerged several years ago. Boko Haram attacks have been common around this area, even after being liberated by Nigerian military.
