The two attacks on Monday were the first attacks of this kind in Chad carried out by Boko Haram terrorists. They took place at a police station and a police school in the capital city N’Djamena. It is believed that they are in retaliation for Chad’s role in leading an offensive against the rebels.

Officials also announced that full body burqas and religious turbans would be banned as a security measure, in light of these recent terrorist attacks.

“Even the burqas for sale in the markets will be withdrawn,” Prime Minister Kalzeube Pahimi Deubet said while meeting with religious leaders on Wednesday.
