“We have a failed security system in this country of Nigeria. This can’t happen in other countries where the security of lives and properties is made a priority. We need more intelligence gathering.”
Mr. Adeseni Ilemobade, the son of Prof. Albert Ilemobade, the former Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) who was gruesomely murdered by his own domestic staff, has called for justice during a public meeting.
The son, who addressed newsmen at the Police headquarters on Igbatoro Road, Akure, the Ondo State capital, said his father was murdered and justice must be delivered to his killers without delay.
The killers, Daniel Ita, a night guard, and Olayemi Bamitale, a former driver of the late Professor, strangled him to death and ran away with his Red Toyota RAV 4 Jeep. SaharaReporters learned that they intended to sell the Toyota jeep with the aim of starting a business.The duo also stole other personal items of the deceased including money.
Adeseni Ilemobade, the youngest child of the 79 year old Professor of Veterinary Medicine, has expressed sadness over his father’s murder and has called for retribution on behalf of the family.
According to llemobade, the way his father was brutally killed shows that his assailants acted on a prepared script without anyone suspecting them for their heinous crime.
Painting a picture of a last scenario, Adeseni Ilemobade recounted how the disgruntled former driver, Olayemi Bamitale, had previously stolen his father's vehicle and drove it away with the aim of selling it off.
Bamitale, a 36 year old indigene of Ekiti State, was a primary school dropout before he became the late Professor’s driver.
However, luck ran out for Bamitale and he could not sell the vehicle because it had already been tracked by the police.
llemobade explained, “They had done something similar during an Easter festivity. This driver drove my father’s vehicle away. He took my father to the church and disappeared with the jeep. He was nowhere to be found with the vehicle.”
“Imagine, this time around, he came down to murder my father and he took his life,” llemobade expressed solemnly.
Some observers, associates, family and church members of the deceased are noted that it took the police seven days to discover that the Professor was not actually kidnapped, but was dead inside a store in his own compound.
According to some pundits, “the police told us that they were in the house and combed everywhere in the compound and even interrogated his wife and other domestic staff such has the housemaid who was later arrested.”

The police have told SaharaReporters that the suspected killers will be charged and they will see to it that they are brought to justice.
