VP Osinbajo Makes An Unannounced Trip To Maiduguri Today

Roadways were blocked and heavily guarded by Nigerian soldiers who were placed there to ensure that the VP’s convoy moved safely through the Maiduguri streets. Maiduguri still experiences frequent terrorist attacks and suicide bombings.

Vice President, Yemi Osinbanjo, made an unannounced visit to Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, on Wednesday according to reports.

VP Osinbajo arrived at 10:43am and shortly after he visited Nigerians forced to flee their homes from Boko Haram terrorist attacks. He met them at a nearby Internally Displaced Person (IDP) camp.

Roadways were blocked and heavily guarded by Nigerian soldiers who were placed there to ensure that the VP’s convoy moved safely through the Maiduguri streets. Maiduguri still experiences frequent terrorist attacks and suicide bombings.

The city was at a standstill as residents of the city were forced to stop their activities and return to their homes, due to concerns for VP Osinbajo’s security.
