In an effort to enhance security in Kaduna State, the government today banned all beggars and hawkers from the streets until further notice.

A press statement by Samuel Aruwan, the spokesman for Governor Nasir El-Rufai, warned that any beggar or hawker found on the streets while the new measures are in place will be arrested.

Commending the people of the State for promptly embracing the crucial necessity of vigilance and attention to security, the government reiterates that the ban on motorcycle taxis (achaba) remains in force and will be strictly enforced.

It urged all citizens to report suspicious persons and movements to the security agencies, and to give these agencies their maximum cooperation.
