Officers from the Marine Police Department and the Anti Kidnapping Unit of Bayelsa State Police Command rescued a kidnapped victim today in Koluama, Bayelsa State.
According to the Public Relations Officer (PRO) for Bayelsa State Police, Asinim Butswat, the kidnappers seized the victim in June.
PRO Butswat told a SaharaReporters correspondent that "unknown gunmen had attacked the facility of an off shore firm, OS/LEX, in the Amatu and Ezetu areas of Bayelsa State on June 22nd and abducted three staff."
"The victims were kept in a camp between Azuzuama and Koluama. One victim, Emeka Ezea, escaped his abductors and trekked for two days. A fisherman found and brought him to the Marine Police who were patrolling the creeks.”
"The Marine Police and the Anti kidnapping unit, have intensified efforts to rescue the remaining victims and arrest the kidnappers," PRO Butswat said.
