Insurgents belonging to Boko Haram yesterday attacked two communities in Borno killing as many as 20 people and injuring many others, according to vigilante sources.

The Islamist fighters raided Dille, a remote town in Askira Uba local government area of Borno State, killing 14 people and leaving many others injured, said one of our sources.

“They are killing our people everyday,” one of the sources complained. “Yesterday, about 20 people were killed in two villages when Boko Haram attacked. Now almost all the communities have been sacked,” Dauda Yusuf told SaharaReporters.

Another source revealed that insurgents also wreaked havoc on Mwathaman village near Dille, killing several residents ‎and razing numerous homes.

‎Musa Luka, who fled from the town, told our reporter that the insurgents attacked in such large number that the residents scampered into the bush to flee.

“I don't know the number of those they killed, but there must be many people dead. We discovered one body in the bush today,” he said.

Last year, Boko Haram fighters attacked the same community, killing 14 civilian victims. The Islamist group also burnt all churches, schools‎ and healthcare centers.

In recent weeks, Boko Haram fighters have intensified attacks on communities in the southern part of Borno State, an area that the recently appointed Chief of Army Staff, Major General Yusuf Buratai, hails from.
