FUTA Names School Library After Professor Ilemobade

The Governing Council of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) in Ondo State has christened ‎the school library after its former Vice Chancellor, Professor Albert Adeoye Ilemobade, who was gruesomely murdered last month, current Vice Chancellor Adebiyi Daramola announced at a commendation service.

The Governing Council of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) in Ondo State has christened ‎the school library after its former Vice Chancellor, Professor Albert Adeoye Ilemobade, who was gruesomely murdered last month, current Vice Chancellor Adebiyi Daramola announced at a commendation service.

Mr. Ilemobade was gruesomely murdered on the 21st of June, 2015 by his household maids ‎at his expansive compound in Ijapo Estate of Akure. 

Making the pronouncement at the well-attended service, Mr. Adebiyi said ‎the highest hierarchy of the institution took the decision in order to immortalize the former University don for his immense contribution to the development of the school.

‎"It is therefore, my delight to announce that in recognition of Baba’s [Prof. Ilemobade’s] scholarly contributions to the growth and sustainability of the development of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, the Governing Council of the University has granted approval to immortalize Baba Ilemobade by naming the University Library after him. Henceforth, the University Library shall be known [as] and called Professor Albert Adeoye Ilemobade Library,” he said

He noted the former Vice Chancellor lived a good life in the service of humanity and was reputable in ‎intellectualism, noting that during his tenure, Mr. Ilemobade committed himself to the development of the infrastructural projects necessary for the promotion of academic excellence in FUTA.

A son of the deceased, Professor Adesola Ilemobade, who was full of grief, noted that the family has chosen to celebrate the exemplary life and contributions of the deceased, despite the ‎circumstances surrounding his death.
