A solider's lifeless body was found on Sunday floating on the river in Nembe after four soldiers and a policeman were gruesomely murdered by sea pirates at their base on the Nembe waterfront of Bayelsa State, with their weaponry carted away afterward.

An eyewitness at the scene said, "The missing army officer was seen floating this morning [Sunday] as youth of Nembe helped in picking the corpse."

Meanwhile, the former governor of Bayelsa State, Timipre Sylva, and current Governor Seriake Dickson on Saturday traded accusations over the alleged sponsor of the recent armed attack.

The State government urged Bayelsans not to despair and promised it will continue to do everything within its powers to stem the new wave of insecurity.

Mr. Sylva said through his spokesperson, Doifie Ola, that the escalation of violence in the state should be put squarely at the doorstep of the current government of Mr. Dickson.
