At least a soldier and two bombers have been killed in twin suicide attacks in Maiduguri city yesterday, a vigilante said.

Two male suicide bombers were stopped by military troops on guard near a security Civilian JTF checkpoint at Airport Junction in Maiduguri at about 9.48 PM Tuesday night before they detonated explosive devices on their bodies, killing a member of the Nigerian Air Force and themselves.

Ibrahim Saidu of the Civilian JTF said the first bomber blew himself up at about 9.45 PM while the second blast occurred about two minutes later.

"The suspected bombers are Boko Haram,” Mr. Saidu, the leader of Civilian JTF in Gomarii Airport area of Maiduguri, said, adding that because it was late in the day there was very little traffic.

He added that a JTF member who was on duty and ''a lady nearby [the] scene [were] burnt beyond recognition.”

Hospital source at Umaru Shehu General Hospital told SaharaReporters that a lady was brought in at about 10: 30 pm last night from the scene of the blast.

"She's already receiving treatment at the intensive care," a medic said‎.

Two suicide bombers suspected to be Boko Haram militants killed a pregnant woman and five others ‎in Damaturu yesterday, and 35 people were critically injured.
