In a statement issued by signed by its National Coordinator, Mike Olomu, said the raid and discovery were part of the legitimate functions of the DSS.

A Bayelsa-based socio-political group, the Niger Delta Leadership Forum, Monday rose in support of the operatives of the Department of State Security (DSS) raid of the Akwa Ibom State government House, which discovered stockpiled foreign currencies.

The group said the response by some politicians and members of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly against the search, and claims that it was an act of Impunity, are unfounded and misplaced.

In a statement issued by signed by its National Coordinator, Mike Olomu, said the raid and discovery were part of the legitimate functions of the DSS.

According to the group, "the Akwa Ibom raid and discovery should not be termed an invasion or acts of impunity. It is a legitimate function of the DSS. If it is an ordinary man's house that was searched, it would not have been termed an invasion. But for politicians from the State to describe such raid and discovery of such criminal stock pile of hard currencies as acts of impunity is in itself admittance of complicity in the crime."

"The PDP should know that the DSS action is in order and the PDP should stop maligning the Director General of the DSS, Lawan Daura. Daura is a professional to the core," the statement also said.
