Mr. Ogbodu, speaking to the unrepentant police officers, disclosed this shortly after he received the handover notes from his predecessor, Isaacs Eke, at the State Police Headquarters, in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

He said that his tenure might not be friendly with unrepentant police officers who have found themselves in the habit of being lazy or violating the human rights of Ondo residents.

"It is pertinent to remind Police Officers of the need for dedication to service and humanity, as I will not condone any form of laziness and indiscipline" adding that "the anti-corruption crusade of the Inspector-General of Police is still on course as the current dispensation is allergic to corruption,” Ogodu said.

He affirmed that his command would do everything to fish out criminal hideouts until their activities are gone from the State.

The Police Commissioner also promised to use all machinery in the capacity of his command to reduce the high rate of crime in Akure.

"The Command will not slow its pace in combating crime as all vulnerable points, black spots, and criminal hideouts will not be left unattended to, till all criminal elements in the state are rid off.”

"This will be done through regular show of force, intensive visibility policing, incessant raids, and patrol to dislodge miscreants in the State. Proper manning of all entry and exist points of command in order not to accommodate externals into the State".

Mr. Ogbodu, who is the thirty-sixth Commissioner of Police posted to Ondo State, assured residents mostly in the flagship areas of the State of a quick police response to their immediate calls.

However, the new police commissioner ‎asked for the cooperation of citizens in the State, including the support and assistance of other security agencies in achieving his purpose of a crime-free Ondo State.
