The Itsekiri Traditional Council has finally confirmed and broken silence on the death of its monarch, HRM Ogiame Atuwatse II, who passed few weeks ago in a Lagos hospital.
Crisis is said to be looming following the council meeting which unveiled the new Olu for the Warri Kingdom in Delta State as Prince Godfrey Ikenwoli Emiko, the younger brother of Ogiame Atuwatse II, under a very controversial succession.
The oldest member of the Olu Advisory Council, Chief Tesigiweno Yahya Pessu, unveiled Prince Godfrey Ikenwoli Emiko during the succession ceremony at Ode-Itsekiri, in Warri South LGA of Delta State.

"This is the first time a brother was taking over from a brother in a monarchy that's purely hereditary," a source close to the palace told SaharaReporters.
However, a 90-day mourning period has been declared in Itsekiri land, signifying the formal announcement of the demise of former monarch.
