September 19, 2015

Some politicians in the State had yesterday claimed that the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has anointed former Governor Sylva as the Party’s consensus candidate for the December 5th gubernatorial election.

The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has dismissed as "untrue" claims that APC leadership has adopted the former Governor Timipre Sylva as a consensus gubernatorial candidate in Bayelsa State.

Some politicians in the State had yesterday claimed that the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has anointed former Governor Sylva as the Party’s consensus candidate for the December 5th gubernatorial election.

Yesterday Lai Mohammed, in a phone chat with APC leadership in Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa State, dismissed these claims saying that rumors in the media does not mean that they are true.

Meanwhile, political associates of the former Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), and governor aspirant for the APC, Timi Alaibe, have faulted reports that the former Governor Timipre Sylva has emerged a consensus candidate of the Party ahead of the September 22 governorship primaries in the State.

According to Richard Akinaka, who is a civil rights activist in the State, the APC leadership have never met with any of the governor aspirants to identify a consensus candidate. He said that the aspirants, led by Timi Alaibe, will all participate fully in the primaries of the Party.
