Kano State’s Deputy Governor, Professor Hafiz Abubakar, was said not to have been directed by the Governor to organize the independence celebrations during his absence.

A source speaking with SaharaReporters said the Governor’s inability to organize the celebration is due to his declining credibility among Kano residents who are accusing him of being slow to action since his assumption into power.

It was also learned that Governor Ganduje only issued a press statement through his Director General of Communication, Baba Halilu Dantiye, congratulating Nigerians on independence.

Governor Ganduje has also been accused of being biased in his political appointments which has favored his family members over Kano residents who helped get him elected, contributing to his declining popularity.
