Diezani Alision-Madueke Erased From Prestigious Chevening Scholarship Website

These developments have come on the heels of international condemnation and embarrassment stemming from the revelation of Alison-Madueke’s arrest by the National Crime Agency (NCA) for bribery and money laundering. SaharaReporters has reported previously that Diezani Alison-Madueke has been one of Nigeria’s leading plunderers of the energy and oil industry.

SaharaReporters has learned that the embattled former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, has been removed from parts of the Chevening Scholarship website. In 2002 Diezani Alison-Madueke was awarded the British Foreign and Commonwealth Chevening Scholarship in order to attend Cambridge Business School for a Master’s in Business Administration.

SaharaReporters learned that Alison-Madueke was no longer listed as a Chevening Alumnus at their International Women’s Day 2015 located on their website. The Independent newspaper in the UK pointed out that their event pays “tribute to women who it said personified the slogan for the event – ‘make it happen.’”

This event was intended to highlight women Chevening alumni making positive contributions globally. It is worth noting that most of Alison-Madueke’s theft took place before 2015, during the heyday of the Jonathan administration when she was Minister of Petroleum.

On Monday October 5th, the NCA successfully detained 27,000 sterling pounds of Alison-Madueke’s money in Westminster Magistrate Court. It was also learned that Diezani Alison-Madueke’s mother, Beatrice Madueke, had about 5,000 sterling pounds detained by the NCA.

SaharaReporters was unable to reach the Chevening Scholarship media team by the time of publication for comment about website modifications.
