Bayelsa Clan Head Kidnapped And Former Jonathan Aide Attacked By Gunmen

Bayelsa State Police Command confirmed the abduction of Luckson Oberike, the Royal Highness and Clan Head of the Biseni community, in Biseni a suburb of Yenagoa of Bayelsa State this morning. In a related development, gunmen also attacked a police guard attached to the residence of Waripamowei Dudafa, the former Special Adviser on Domestic Affairs to former President Goodluck Jonathan. The attack left one policeman wounded and saw the theft of a firearm.

Bayelsa State Police Command confirmed the abduction of Luckson Oberike, the Royal Highness and Clan Head of the Biseni community, in Biseni a suburb of Yenagoa of Bayelsa State this morning.

Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) Asinim Butswat stated that the gunmen approached Mr. Oberike through a local creek, and successfully kidnapped the Clan Head during the early hours of Wednesday morning. 

"On the October 14th, 2015, at about [2am], unknown gunmen went to the residence of His Royal Highness, Mr. Luckson Oberike, the Clan Head of Biseni Community, in Yenagoa,” according to PRO Butswat.

He continued by saying, “the unknown gunmen fled with Mr. Oberike via the waterways toward Rivers State. The Rivers State Police Command has been alerted. Efforts have been intensified to rescue the victim and arrest the abductors.”

In a related development, gunmen also attacked a police guard attached to the residence of Waripamowei Dudafa, the former Special Adviser on Domestic Affairs to former President Goodluck Jonathan. The attack left one policeman wounded and saw the theft of a firearm.  

According to PRO Butswat:

"On the October 13th, 2015, at about 6:20 a black Lexus Jeep, with an unknown registration number, approached the residence of Waripamowei Dudafa at Okaka, Yenagoa.

The occupants of the Lexus Jeep, fired gunshots at the policemen on guard duty at the residence. The policemen repelled the attacked successfully.

The attack left one police corporal wounded, the corporal’s firearm, an AK-47 rifle, was stolen. The Corporal is responding to treatment at the Federal Medical Centre in Yenagoa. The manhunt for the unknown gunmen has begun. The investigation is ongoing."
