SaharaReporters was informed by a police source that Mrs. Unulkiere-Amadasun was kidnapped last Sunday while on her way to a church service. According to the source, the five gunmen stopped Mrs. Unulkiere-Amadasun’s SUV and then forced all of the occupants out of the vehicle, eventually fleeing with the chief matron to an unknown location.

Olubode Ifedayo, a petrol attendant, who witnessed the abduction informed SaharaReporters that the gunmen were armed with machetes and guns.

"They threatened to kill the woman [Mrs. Unulkiere-Amadasun],  and also threatened to attack other occupants if they screamed for help." Mr. Ifedayo told SaharaReporters.

Mr. Ifedayo added that the occupants in her car were forced to lay facing the ground as they fled.

"I think their major target was the Chief Matron. They forced out other occupants in her vehicle and zoomed off into the bush."

Contract workers in the production unit of the Michelin Rubber Company confirmed the eye witness’ account.

The workers informed SaharaReporters that the kidnappers are asking the company's Managing ‎Director, Eric Hocepied, to pay the sum of N35 Million for Mrs. Unulkiere-Amadasun’s safe release.

A family member of the victim who spoke with SaharaReporters confirmed that the kidnappers are demanding ransom. The family member noted that the family is already working with the police to secure her safe return.

The Ondo State Police Commissioner, Mike Ogbodu, assured SaharaReporters that his command was on top of the situation. During a phone conversation with a SaharaReporters correspondent Mr. Ogbodu stated that his men were combing the entire area, although they were focusing primarily on the forest.  He also confirmed that he had deployed surveillance units in search of Mrs. Unulkiere-Amadasun.

Mr. Ogbodu further stated that his command was actively working with  sister security agencies to  ensure that Mrs. Unulkiere-Amadasun is rescued alive.
