Mr. Douglas was kidnapped on Monday afternoon along the Ogbia-Brass waterways when the convoy of boats he was riding in were attacked by the gunmen.

The victim was heading to a political rally in support of his cousin Mr. Sylva, expected to be held in the Okpoma and Brass areas of the State.

Mr. Nathan Egba, the Director for Media and Publicity of Mr. Sylva’s campaign, confirmed that Mr. Douglas was abducted. He stated that ''the victim was coming for this campaign but, unfortunately, their boat which was in our convoy was attacked by the gunmen who abducted him to an unknown destination.''

“I pray that nothing will happen to him,'' Mr. Egba added.

A police spokesman for Bayelsa State said that the command has yet to receive an official report of the incident.

Meanwhile the incident has sent shockwaves through the area and instilled fear in the other passengers in the convey who were unhurt.
