Armed men on Sunday abducted Bayelsa Commissioner for Local Government, Madam Serefina Otazi, barely 12 hours after the abduction of Governor Dickson’s sister in Bayelsa.

Mr Patrick Oba nephew to the Commissioner said that she was kidnapped at gunpoint in Otuoke on her way to Ewoi Community in Ogbia Local Government Area (LGA) for a funeral.

Otazi, is a niece to former President Goodluck Jonathan.

The kidnappers, according to witnesses whisked away the victim who was in the company of two ladies when the kidnappers attacked and took away her car keys ostensibly to frustrate attempts to report the crime.

The two female occupants of the car and the driver were unharmed by the gunmen who sped off to an unknown destination in their vehicle.

Otazi was Commissioner for Women Affairs and Acting Chairman of Ogbia LGA.

Mr. Endurance Frank, a family member, told  our reporter that the family had reported the incident to the police and prayed that the victim would be released unhurt.

It will be recalled that police in Bayelsa on Sunday confirmed the kidnapping of Miss Nancy Dickson, the younger sister of Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa.

Asinim Butswat, an Assistant Superintendent of Police and Spokesman for Bayelsa Police Command, confirmed the development in Yenagoa.

Butswat said that Nancy, 26, was abducted in her shop located on Okaka Road, Yenagoa, the State capital on Saturday.

Butswat said that the gunmen, who drove in an ash Lexus SUV, trailed Nancy to her shop and whisked her away to an unknown place at about 2:50 p.m.

The Police Spokesman, however, said that shortly after the incident was reported they (Police) mounted "stop and search operation" on vehicles in different parts of the State capital.
