IGP Arase made this assurance while speaking to a delegation of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs members, lead by its Secretary-General Professor Ishaq Oloyede, who visited him on Tuesday.

The Inspector General also asked the Islamic group to pressure citizens throughout the country to respect the rights of others.  Mr. Arase denied an online report claiming that he demanded that relations of the detained receive special authorization in order to visit their relatives.

Mr. Arase also reassured members of the Islamic group of commitment by the police to the human rights of all Nigerian citizens.
