Shiites Begin Maulud Nabiy Mourning Procession In Kano

Hundreds of Shiites members in Kano took to the streets on Thursday to mourn and celebrate the annual birthday anniversary of the Prophet Mohammed, an event that is known as Maulud procession.

The Shiites led by Mallam Sanusi Abdulkadir said it has been their practice to partake in the celebratory message of Maulud Nabiy, but this year's message is different because they are out to mourn the genocidal carnage perpetrated by the Nigerian Army against their member in Zaria.

The Shiites procession witnessed massive turnout of the sect members comprising men, women and children who mostly dressed in black attires.

Before commencing of the procession, the Shiites gathered at Kabara before passing through the routes of Soron Dinki, Makwarari Jakara, and Kwanar Dala, da Gwammaja and Kofar Mazuma areas in Kano metropolis.
