The attack took place at the Village a restaurant known to be frequented by journalists and government officials.

The Village has been hit three times by attacks.  No one has claimed responsibility for the attack yet, although many believe the Al-Qaeda linked group Al-Shabab to be responsible.  The group was forced out of Mogadishu in 2011, but has yet to be totally defeated.
