Federal High Court Adjusts Metuh’s Bail

A Federal High Court in Abuja issued its ruling on the bail application of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Public Secretary Olisa Metuh on Wednesday.
The court ruled to grant the PDP spokesman bail on a N400 million bond as well as N200 million from two sureties. The sureties, according to the court, must have properties within the Maitama area of Abuja.

A Federal High Court in Abuja softened the bail conditions of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Public Secretary Olisa Metuh on Wednesday.

The court ruled to grant the PDP spokesman bail on a N400 million bond as well as N200 million from two sureties.  The sureties, according to the court, must have properties within the Maitama area of Abuja.

Justice Okon Abang, who issued the ruling, advised Mr. Metuh to appeal the decision if he was unsatisfied with the bail conditions.

Mr. Metuh is currently being prosecuted for allegedly receiving N400 million from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), the money was allegedly taken from a $2.1 billion fund intended for the fight against Boko Haram.  The PDP spokesman has been in detention since his arrest three weeks ago.
