Tensions In Rivers State As Supreme Court Begins Hearing Of Wike’s Appeal

On Wednesday, a palpable fear has enveloped the camps of both Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike and the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dakuku Peterside, as the Supreme Court in Abuja began the hearing of the appeal challenging an earlier decision by the appeal court ordering a rerun of the governorship election in the State.

The 7-man panel headed by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Mahmud Mohammed, will deliver its judgement or after hearing the brief of arguments from the counsels.

The justices took a break to discuss the arguments, and announced that they will discuss Governor Wike's appeal once they return from a 30-minute break.
