According to the lawyers, two teenage girls between the ages of 15 years old and 16 years old were violently raped to death by a gang of boys in separate areas of the Bayelsa State capital.

The 15-year old girl was raped by a gang of boys at an uncompleted building along the D.S.P . Alamieyeseigha Expressway.  The 16-year old girl was raped to the point of death by a gang of boys at the weekend in Yenagoa.

The Chairperson of Bayelsa chapter of FIDA, Barrister Dise Ogbise-Erhisere, expressed her disgust with the incident and noted that she will work for the arrest of the rapists and their prosecution.

According to Barrister Ogbise-Erhisere, ‎expressed disappointment over a ridiculous settlement proposal, made by one of the suspect’s parents, to offer the victim N1000 and a rubber of rice to close the case.

Mrs. Ogbise-Erhisere called on the victims' parents not to settle the rape cases outside of the court so that the offenders will face the full weight of the law. Their subsequent trial will serve as a detriment to others, according to the FIDA Chairperson.

Mrs. Ogbise-Erhisere, expressed her displeasure over the rape of innocent girls in society, and called upon relevant security agencies to be alert to curb the increasing cases of this social vice.
