The accident occurred in an area along the expressway which had recently been repaired.

Many of the bodies of the victims of the accident were not moved from the road for nearly two hours. According to media reports, the trailer was traveling from Kaduna.

Officials of the Federal Road Safety Commission did not speak to journalists as they were “busy” with attending to the accident.

Many witnesses to the accident noted that the loss of life could have been prevented if the government invested in infrastructure projects.
