SaharaReporters first broke the news that two female suicide bombers targeted a mosque in Ummarari Molai near Maiduguri where worshippers were congregating for their morning prayers.

Reports emerged that a female suicide bomber, disguised as a man, accessed the male entrance to the mosque and detonated explosives strapped to her body.

Previously, SaharaReporters reported that at least 22 people were killed and more than 20 injured during this attack.

A medical staff member at the Maiduguri State Specialist Hospital told SaharaReporters that of the nine people being treated for critical injuries that six of them had died.

The source stated, "we have tried our best [to treat them] but we lost six out of the seventeen victims brought to State Specialist Hospital yesterday. So it brings the total dead to 28 people killed in Ummarari Molai Mosque blast."

The Borno State Governor Kashim Shettima has condemned the attacks in totality and urged the nearby communities to be increasingly vigilent.

"Let us be more vigilant to avoid the bad element in our midst and always make sure you guards yourselves whenever you are praying so as not allow this to repeat itself again. Also if notice any strange report it to security agencies. I assure you that very soon Boko Haram will be over,'' Mr. Shettima stated.
