Three-Brother Gang Accused Of Terrorizing Residents Of Ojudu, Lagos

Residents of Ojodu in Lagos have accused three brothers, identified as cult brothers, of terrorizing them. In interviews, some of the residents said the brothers last Tuesday used machetes to attack numerous people at the Isheri bus stop in Ojodu, Lagos State. The three brothers, identified as Friday Augustine, Chukwudi Augustine and Obinna Augustine, reported inflicted grievous cuts on two of their victims.

One resident told a correspondent of SaharaReporters that the assailants appeared to have “bought the police,” adding that the police had failed to arrest the brothers despite reports to them.

The resident claimed that the alleged gangsters last Tuesday descended on a young man named Yomi Adegoke who tried to pacify the brothers who were reportedly threatening some residents. “Yomi’s efforts to make peace and prevent a fight between the gang and the residents failed, as the cult boys descended on him with machetes,” said a man who stated that he witnessed the attack. He accused Friday Augustine as the leader of the attack, adding that he personally cut the victim’s head and other parts of the body with a machete.

The residents stated that the brothers also seriously wounded a woman during the melee.

According to the residents, the gangster-like siblings had left the scene after the attack. One of them told SaharaReporters that the assault was reported to the police, but to no avail. “They are still walking around freely without arrest by the police,” one resident stated. He added: “We saw them yesterday and today at Sabo and Adebowale Streets in Ojodu, and they were threatening other people.”

“They boast openly that they cannot be arrested by the police,” one witness said, adding that the brothers even warned that they would come after anybody who reported them.

Mr. Adegoke was described as critically ill and on admission at a hospital where he is undergoing treatment.
