Acting GOC 7 Division Escape Boko Haram Ambush

The convoy of Brigadier General Victor Ezugwu, Acting General Officer Commanding (GOC), 7 Division Nigerian Army,  was on Tuesday morning ambushed by suspected Boko Haram terrorists while travelling to Bama, Borno State, on operational duty. In the convoy were other top officers of the division.  

The incident, according to a statement signed by  Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, Acting Director Army Public Relations occurred at about 8.30am, claiming the life of one soldier while two others were injured.

Soldiers successfully dislodged the terrorists, killing some and recovering items that include a Toyota Hilux vehicle, two AK-47 rifles, and ammunition. 

After the dislodgement of the terrorists, the Acting GOC continued his journey to Bama. The body of the slain soldier and his two wounded colleagues have since been moved to Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State. The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, and the GOC have since spoken, said the statement,  adding that the Nigerian Army is determined to continue to its onslaught against the remnants of the Boko Haram terrorists wherever they are.
