The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has vowed to deploy all available resources towards dealing decisively with any threats to the Nigerian economy, stressing that it is aware of the militant activities of the Niger Delta Avengers, who are attempting to cripple the economy through pipeline vandalism, oil theft and the kidnapping of expatriate workers in the area.
According to the Acting Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Rabe Abubakar, the military will employ all available means and measures within its rules of engagement to crush any individual or group that engages in the destruction of strategic assets and government facilities in the Niger Delta region or any other region.
Mr. Abubakar said that the whole world has seen that they are engaging in economic terrorism against Nigeria and would be treated as criminals in line with the laws of the land.
He added that the military and other security agencies would continue to employ more proactive measures to fish out those responsible for the heinous crimes in order to ensure safety for oil companies and law-abiding community members.
Meanwhile, the DHQ urges community leaders, traditional rulers and members of the public to cooperate with the security agencies towards ensuring apprehension of the culprits for the interest of Nigeria, as no individual or group's interest is above that of the nation.
