This report contains all the budgets for Nigeria's ministries, major executive offices, various commissions, and civil service agencies.
SaharaReporters has released the budgets and appropriations outlined in the 2016 Appropriations bill passed by the National Assembly and signed by President Muhammadu Buhari. These budgets have not been distributed for the public’s use before and have been published by this platform in attempt to generate dialogue between Nigerians on spending nationwide.
The release of these budgets follows a statement to SaharaReporters by Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information and Culture, that he “had no duty or obligation” to discuss his ministry’s budget with the public.
SaharaReporters aims to provide this information to the public so that they can hold their elected representatives and public servants accountable.
