Buhari To Arrive Lagos On A Two-day Working Visit

According to a statement issued by Mr. Steve Ayorinde, Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, this will be the first time in about 15 years that a sitting president will be coming to Lagos State on a working visit.

President Muhammadu Buhari will on Monday arrive Lagos on a two-day working visit to the state. It will be Buhari's first official visit to the state since he took office last year. ‎

According to a statement issued by Mr. Steve Ayorinde, Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, this will be the first time in about 15 years that a sitting president will be coming to Lagos State on a working visit. The statement added that the development is indicative of the smooth working relationship between Lagos State and the Federal Government as well as a testimony to the impressive performance of the state government in the last one-year under Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.

While in Lagos, said Ayorinde,  Buhari will commission the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) Rescue Unit in Cappa Oshodi. It was built by the state government to deliver a swift response to emergency situations in the state.

The President will also commission the newly constructed Ago Palace Way in Okota, Isolo, after which he will pay homage to the Oba of Lagos, Oba Babatunde Rilwanu Aremu Akiolu at the Iga Iduganran, Lagos Island.

Ayorinde further disclosed that Buhari will, later in the day, be hosted to a reception rally by the state government at the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS). There, he will commission and hand over security equipment and vehicles provided for security agencies in the state by the Ambode administration

The first day of the President’s visit, explained Ayorinde, will end with a state banquet in his honour at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island.

On Tuesday, Buhari is scheduled to be the Special Guest of Honour at a breakfast session with Corporate Lagos. The session will be hosted by Governor Ambode at the Lagos State House, Marina. This will be followed by a short session with the civil servants at the State House, Alausa-Ikeja.

Ayorinde said Governor Ambode is delighted by the impending presidential visit, which he said  Lagosians are looking forward to.

Ayorinde, however, urged Lagos residents to bear with law enforcement agents and traffic control authorities who will effect road diversions on some of the routes that the President motorcade will pass through during the visit.
