It will be recalled that Mr. Orubebe is being tried for false asset declaration of land in Abuja.

Mr. Orji told the court today in Abuja that the matter was slated for continuation of trial by calling on the second prosecution witness to testify against the accused person, noting that ‘‘having reviewed the case, we felt there is no further course to call for any other witness to this matter, to this we humbly apply to close our case for the prosecution.”

The defense counsel led by Selekowei Larry, told the tribunal that they were taken by surprise with the development. He argued that in such a circumstance he needed an adjournment to prepare for their defense, subject to the convenience of the tribunal.

The tribunal, chaired by Danladi Yakubu Umar, obliged the application of the defense counsel by adjourning the matter to May 31, 2016, when the accused person will open his defense.
