The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has filed a suit bordering on money laundering against Air Marshal Adesola Amosu Nunayon (rtd) at the Federal High Court, Lagos.
Nunayon was charged alongside Air Vice-Marshal Jacob Bola Adigun and Air Commodore Gbadebo Owodunni Olugbenga. Other defendants in the suit include Delfina Oil and Gas Limited, Mcallan Oil And Gas Limited, Hebron Housing and Properties Company Limited, Trapezites BDC, Fonds and Pricey Limited, Deegee Oil and Gas Limited, Timsegg Investment Limited and Solomon Health Care Limited.
EFCC accused them of converting N21 billion from the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) around March 5, 2014, in Lagos State as well as converted and concealed the funds, which they "reasonably ought to have known, form part of the proceeds of an unlawful act, to wit: stealing."
They were also accused of concealing 'proceeds of crime' and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 18(a) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) (Amendment) Act, 2012 and punishable under Section 17(a).
The accused were alleged of using the companies to convert and conceal the funds.
Nunayon and Adigun were said to have allegedly removed about N663.4 million from the NAF accounts between July 17 and September 16, 2014, to purchase properties at 50-52, Tenterden Grove, London (NW4 1TH) and 93B, Shirehall Park, London (NW4 2QU), United Kingdom.
They were accused of buying properties at 40A, Bourdillon, Ikoyi and on Sinari Daranijo, Victoria Island with N900 million and N1.5 billion respectively.
The anti-graft agency added that they also bought a property - Cappadol Mall - on Adetokunbo Ademola Street, Wuse II, Abuja at N750 million and another worth over N1.7 billion on Agobogba Street, Parkview, Ikoyi Lagos State among several others using the NAF's funds.
The accused allegedly used N428,139,539 obtained from accounts of the NAF to renovate and purchase medical equipment for Solomon Health Care Limited at 24, Adeniyi Jones Street, Ikeja, Lagos State between last March 6 and April 30
Meanwhile, the prosecuting counsel, Rotimi Oyedepo Isiokuwa, who signed the charge sheet, said 42 witnesses will testify in the case when the trial begins.
