Cynthia Michel Diden, the wife of a Delta State House of Assembly member representing Warri North constituency, has been kidnapped by a gang of hoodlums.

Family sources who confided in SaharaReporters said the kidnappers contacted the family and demanded a ransom of N500 million. The figure was reduced to N200 million this morning.
"For now, nobody can give reasons for her kidnapping but we are suspecting that youths not happy with her husband could be behind the act. Before now, Cynthia resided in Abuja. But as we talk, we as a family and the security agencies are working round the clock to ensure that she is free unhurt," a family source said.
It would be recalled that in 2009, the eldest wife of Mr. Diden, Mrs. Mary Diden, Special Adviser to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on women mobilization, was kidnapped in Sapele and later released after an alleged payment of an undisclosed ransom was paid.
During a visit to the Sapele home of Mr. Diden, it was observed that some women were praying for the quick release of Mrs. Cynthia Diden from her captors.
SaharaReporters reliably gathered that the State government has deployed its security apparatus to ensure that Mrs. Diden is set free.
When contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Celestina Kalu, said she had not been briefed and promised to get back to our reporter but never did.
