A Nigerian musician who was reported missing after releasing a song criticizing local politicians for corruption has been found, SaharaReporters has revealed.

His song “Gyara Kayanka,” Hausa for “put your house in order,” accuses local All Progressives Congress (APC) politicians of corruption and selfishness.
SaharaReporters reached out to Adamawa State Police Command spokesperson Othman Abubakar, who confirmed that Mr. Daukaka was kidnapped but has since been rescued.
According to him, Mr. Daukaka was found in Lamurde Local Government Area at 1:30 PM on Wednesday. He is currently in the custody of the police and is uninjured. Mr. Abubakar told our correspondent that the musician will soon be reunited with his family at the police headquarters in Yola.
While the cause for his abduction has not been confirmed, Mr. Daukaka’s family members believe his controversial song led to his abduction.
“It is obvious his disappearance is an abduction by some interests who are infuriated by his latest song which exposed corruption among legislators at the State House of Assembly,” Atiku Mustapha, a relative of Mr. Daukaka, told journalists.
One of Mr. Daukaka’s two wives, Hadiza Adamu, similarly stated that his politically-charged song angered local politicians and made him a target for kidnapping.
“My husband is not known to be at loggerheads with anyone. The only explanation we could provide is that he could have angered some powerful interests with his songs,” Ms. Adamu said.
