Kogi East Senatorial Rerun Election To Be Held On July 23

The rerun contests will be held in the following local government areas (LGAs): Ankpa, Bassa, Dekina, Ibaju, Idah, Igalamela/Odula, Ofu, and Olamaboro.

The Kogi State East senatorial rerun election will be held on July 23, according to the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission.

Resident Electoral Commissioner Samuel Madaki Usman announced this on Sunday while addressing journalists. He explained that the date was selected after the electoral body consulted with stakeholders at the State and national levels in order to agree on conditions for a successful, peaceful rerun election.

It would be recalled that the results of the last senatorial poll in the district were declared inconclusive and void due to the violence surrounding the election.

The rerun contests will be held in the following local government areas (LGAs): Ankpa, Bassa, Dekina, Ibaju, Idah, Igalamela/Odula, Ofu, and Olamaboro.

According to Mr. Usman, 140,297 out of 643,559 registered voters are expected to vote in the election. He added that the polling stations would be monitored by 1390 ad hoc staff to ensure that the elections are conducted without violence or corruption.
