Ondo State APC Denies Imposing Candidate On Members

Mr. Abraham, a leading gubernatorial candidate, is being alleged as the anointed candidate of the party’s national leader, Bola Tinubu.

The opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has denied that it imposed a particular aspirant, Segun Abraham, on the members of the party ahead of the November 26, 2016 governorship election.

Mr. Abraham, a leading gubernatorial candidate, is being alleged as the anointed candidate of the party’s national leader, Bola Tinubu.

Omo’ba Abayomi Adesanya, the State Publicity Secretary of the party, made the denial on Wednesday while granting an interview on a news radio station, Adaba 88.9 FM, based in Akure, the State capital.

A SaharaReporters correspondent had reported earlier this week that twenty-five aspirants were preparing to slug it out for the party’s governorship ticket at the August 27, 2016 primary election.

Mr. Adesanya disclosed that the opposition party would conduct a transparent primary election for the twenty-five aspirants that have shown interest in the party’s ticket.

He stated that over two thousand delegates among the party leaders would participate in the conduct of the election where the party’s main flag-bearer would emerge.

“The people of Ondo State should have patience with us, as this could be the handwork of our opposition in the State.

“The leaders of the All Progressives Congress have not imposed anybody on the party and there is definitely no room for such because everybody is preparing for the primary election.

“Just as the leaders have reiterated, we [APC] in Ondo State are going to conduct a credible primary election where our candidate would emerge and its process shall be transparent and credible,” Mr. Adesanya stated in his interview.
