Niger Delta Group Criticizes Boroh Over Claim On Amnesty Office Performance

A group, the Niger Delta Renaissance Movement ‎(NDRM), faulted the claims of the Chairman of the Presidential Amnesty Committee, Brigadier General Paul Boroh, on performance and achievements in office, saying the achievements were part of foundation laid by past administration of Goodluck Jonathan.

According to the NDRM, though the workings of government continue, the recent list of achievements released by the Boroh-led Amnesty Office were faulty and do not attribute the part played by his predecessor, Kingsley Kuku, under the administration of Goodluck Jonathan.

The Amnesty office under Mr. Boroh had announced that three of the ex-agitators of the Niger Delta under the Presidential Amnesty Programme have graduated from universities in the United Kingdom with First Class degrees. Six of them graduated with Second Class Upper from the University of Liverpool in Pharmacology, Geology, Maritime Business, Accounts & Finance, Politics and International Relations. Two had Second Class Upper from the Swansea University in Law and International Relations while one each graduated in the same Class from Anglia Ruskin, Plymouth and Portsmouth universities.

The Niger Delta Renaissance Movement (NDRM), in a statement issued yesterday in Yenagoa through its State coordinator, Darlington Pereowei, stated that the successes recorded by the Amnesty beneficiaries in foreign institutions were laid by past administration, “though we have observed, with happiness, the successes of our indigenes in foreign universities, the fund needed and atmosphere for the success were laid by the past administration. Instead of attributing the little contribution made by the present administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, Brigadier General Paul Boroh is engaged in self adulation without credit to those involved.”

“The driver is President Buhari and not Boroh. Boroh's surrogate claim that the failures by the few to hijack his office were responsible for the barrage of attacks is a lie. The office is bigger than Boroh and his incompetence is glaring for all to see. ‎Boroh should be sacked before it is too late.”

The NDRM also threatened to drag President Muhammadu Buhari to court over the appointment of Mr. Boroh, insisting that the appointment was allegedly made in error “as the appointee is a summarily retired from the military in a questionable circumstance with record of misconduct and disorderly behaviors during foreign missions.”
