Kekemeke Remains ‘De-Facto Chairman’ In Ondo APC, Say Factional Members

Rahman Rotimi, the State Secretary of the APC who spoke for the faction of the Committee, stated that it was a “mere rumor” that Mr. Kekemeke was removed from office as the chairman of the party.

A faction of the State Executive Committee (SEC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has kicked against the removal of Isaacs Kekemeke as the Chairman of the APC in Ondo State.

The faction of the Committee said Mr. Kekemeke remained the ‘de-facto’ Chairman of the party in Ondo State.

Rahman Rotimi, the State Secretary of the APC who spoke for the faction of the Committee, stated that it was a “mere rumor” that Mr. Kekemeke was removed from office as the chairman of the party.

He queried where the meeting of the two-thirds majority of members of the State Executive Committee (SEC) that jointly “signed” for the removal of Kekemeke was held.

“There was no meeting held for the removal of the chairman, they just went to a corner in their room and cooked up such signature.

“The signatures were false and not authentic and there has never been a time the signature was collated,” he shouted.

Sources told SaharaReporters that Mr. Rotimi spoke with some selected journalists at a press conference held at the party’s secretariat on No. 17 Oyemekun road in Akure.

During the conference, he explained that the party’s national leaders have made it clear that Mr. Kekemeke remained the embattled chairman of the crisis-ridden opposition party in the State.

The State Secretary added that purported removal of Mr. Kekemeke was carried out by some “unscrupulous element” in the party.

“At the meeting of the State Executive Committee of All Progressives Congress in Akure today, the 30th day of August 2016, the Committee deliberated on the purported removal of the party’s State Chairman by some unscrupulous elements of the party comprising of Four (4) persons; Omooba Abayomi Adesanya, Babalayo Olutayo, Saka Yusuf Ogunleye, and Bankole Daodu.

“The National Secretariat of the party led by the National Deputy Chairman North and the National Deputy Chairman South have made it abundantly clear on Tuesday 23rd August 2016 in a meeting held with the State Working Committee that the State Party Chairman, Hon. D.I Kekemeke remains the Party’s Chairman in Ondo State."

Reacting, Omo’ba Abayomi Adesanya said the members of the State Executive Committee have removed Kekemeke as the chairman of the party, maintaining that he was removed by a two-thirds majority of the committee.

“I learned that a pitiable number of just eight or ten persons who are key loyalists of the sacked chairman and parading themselves as the authentic SEC members addressed some selected press.

“I have said it that Mr. Kekemeke is no longer the chairman of the party in Ondo state because he has been sacked by the two thirds majority of the State Executive Members."

Sources speaking to SaharaReporters said “Kekemeke’s latest action” was to use such “tactics” to punish the aggrieved members of the SEC who signed for his removal as the chairman of the party.

“Money came into the State for all delegates in the party ahead of the Saturday’s governorship election and it has been deposited in care of the sacked Chairman, Mr. Isaacs Kekemeke.

“But to my surprise, Kekemeke is now calling some of us in the (State Executive Committee) on the phone especially the ones that don’t want him in that position and signed for his removal that we should come and have our own share of the money.

“Although, I have not been to his house because I learned that is where he shares the money but the funny aspect is that those who have gone there said he is forcing them to sign an undertaking before they would have their own share of the fund.

“He (Kekemeke) is deliberately doing this because he wants our support back since some of us (State Executive Members) who are also part of the delegates have passed a vote of no confidence on him that we don’t want him as the state chairman again,” he said.
