Kano Police Parade Kidnapping Suspects, Criminals Arrested In Anti-Kidnapping Bust

Following persistent cases of cattle rustling and kidnapping in Falgore and Gomo Forests in Doguwa and Sumaila Local Government Areas of Kano state, the Kano state Police Command says it has successfully busted a notorious kidnapping hub in the forests and arrested some notorious kingpins.

Speaking to the media on their latest offensive, the Kano state Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Yusuf, said his anti-kidnapping unit was successful because they followed the criminals into the jungle where they were operating.

According to him, the menace of cattle rustling has been drastically curtailed by his predecessor and that armed bandits had shifted their criminal activities into kidnapping and taking hostages for ransom.

He said on August 31st, 2016 the anti-kidnapping unit had successfully arrested Nasiru Alhaji Tasiu of Bakin Daji, who fired bullets at police when he spotted them before his arrest.

The total number of criminals arrested so far has risen to 22, according to Mr. Yusuf. He also reasserted his commitment to coordinating with other law enforcement agencies in the fight against crime.

A summary of the contraband repossessed from criminal suspects include 4 fabricated AK-47 rifles, 2 face masks, 96 cows, 33 sheep, 1 dog in addition to cash amounting to the tune of N200 thousand, bow and arrows, an axe, a machete, and 2 GSM handsets.
