Dare Bada Emerges NNPP Governorship Candidate In Ondo State

September 17, 2016

Dare Bada on Thursday emerged the gubernatorial candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Democratic Party (NNPP) to contest in the Saturday November 26th 2016 governorship election in the Ondo state.

Mr. Bada, a former Commissioner for Health in the state, polled 202 majority votes to emerge the endorsed flag bearer of the party at the primary election supervised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Akure.

The medical practitioner was an aggrieved stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo state before ‘cross-carpeting’ to the relatively unknown New Nigeria Peoples Democratic Party (NNPP) with the intention of contesting in the governorship race.

SaharaReporters correspondent reported that the governorship primary election, which took place at the poplar Plaza Motel in Akure, the state capital, was monitored by security agencies.

Mr. Bada, an indigene of Akure was once alleged of stealing the sum of N65 million when he served as the Director General of the Olusola Oke Campaign Organization of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in October 2012 governorship election in Ondo state.

No fewer than five local aspirants of the party openly stepped down to throw their weight behind the former PDP stalwart during the exercise.

Speaking after the exercise, Bada disclosed that the unending crisis rocking the main political parties of the PDP and APC in Ondo state forced him to join the NNPP to contest as its sole governorship candidate.

He expressed optimism of winning the forthcoming governorship election in the state for the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) noting that he is prepared to govern the state with humility.

Mr. Bada told the people of the state to seek the alternative party and reject the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state and main opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).

“There is crisis in the ruling parties and our people need an alternative platform and someone with proven integrity and character that they believed they can trusted”, he said.

Earlier, the Ondo state Chairman of NNPP, Femi Famakinwa vowed that the party would wrestle power from the incumbent government of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state.

Agbor Major, the National Secretary of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) who monitored and moderated the process of the exercise said all is now set for party’s candidate to emerge as the next Executive Governor of the state after Olusegun Mimiko.

Mr. Major stated that the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) would ensure it garner more support for the candidate of the party to occupy the Alagbaka government house by November 2016.

He further explained that Mr. Bada would also enjoy the support of some gladiators from other crisis-ridden political who failed to clinch their party’s tickets ahead of the November 26 poll.
