Police To Reopen Some Divisional Offices Closed From Boko Haram Threat

September 20, 2016

The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 1, Adamu Ibrahim, has said that his office will look into the possibilities of reopening some of their Divisional Offices in zones that were closed as a result of the Boko Haram insurgency.

The AIG said this on Tuesday in Kano during an interactive session with journalists when he visited the Secretariat of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kano Chapter.

Mr. Ibrahim said that his visit to the NUJ secretariat was to strengthen the existing relationships between journalists and police in the state.

He said “Our aims of ensuring peace in Kano and Nigeria in general can not be achieved with out collaborating with you journalists.”

He continued, “Therefore, am seeking you're support to make this zone which comprised Kano, Katsina and Jigawa States more peaceful and conducive for all Nigerians”.

He added that "I am here to seek for your cooperation as you are the mirror of the society. I want you to support us in our mission to restore peace in this country."

The AIG also added that he would not relent in his effort towards ensuring that the zone is free from crimes.
