Youth From Jibrin's Constituency Call For More Sanctions Against Him

October 12, 2016

Members of a youth organization called ‘Kofa Must Go Group’ from Kiru/Bebeji  Federal Constituency of Kano State today stormed the premises of  the National Assembly in Abuja, calling for tougher sanctions against the suspended former Chairman of House Appropriations Comittee, Abdumumeen Jibrin.

The placard carrying protesters besieged the main gate of the nation’s highest lawmaking building with the following inscriptions: ‘We Say No To Jibrin,’   ‘Jibrin Must Go,’ ‘He cannot Represent Us,’ and ‘We Demand For More Sanctions On Jibrin.’

The group called for Mr. Jibrin’s prosecution in addition to his 185 day suspension from the House. They maintained that his constituency has rejected him, adding that they have started collecting signatures to process for his recall.

Mr. Jibrin was suspended after the members of the House unanimously adopted the report by the committee on Ethics and Privileges which investigated the allegations of padding in 2016 budget leveled against Speaker Yakubu Dogara and four other house leaders.
